Jill C. Weisberg (aka JillBird) creates street art that is rooted in her background as a professional graphic artist. She credits artists such as Barbara Kruger and Banksy as her greatest influences and like them, merges type and image to evoke a strong emotional response from her street level pieces.
Weisberg believes in "the cross-pollination of fine art and design" and works in a full range of sizes for both corporate and private settings. While her message is consistent, her materials and processes are not. Previous to this mural created as part of Primary Flights' 2010 Art Basel exhibit, she created street art and murals using wheat paste and posters, stickers, and industrial paint. Her 2010 mural for Primary Flight is a photo-manipulated self portrait and was printed on the same vinyl that is used for city buses.
Most recently, Weisberg exhibited her graduate thesis show at FAU's gallery in downtown Fort Lauderdale and is teaching part-time at Nova Southeastern University. Her 2010 mural for Primary Flight is currently on view at 24th street just east of NW 2nd Ave in the Wynwood Arts District of Miami. A map of the location can be viewed at the bottom of this page.
